Diese blumensträuße und ihre counterparts—an aufrechte zusammensetzung der iris ( van gogh museum , Amsterdam ) und eine horizontale zusammensetzung von rosen ( nationalgalerie für kunst , Washington , D. . C. . ) —were konzipiert als serie oder ensemble , auf augenhöhe mit der früheren sonnenblumendekoration, die er in arles gemacht hat . Spuren von rosa entlang der tischplatte und rosenblättern im vorliegenden gemälde , die im laufe der zeit verblasst sind , bieten eine schwache erinnerung an die früher lebhafter " leinwand aus rosa rosen gegen a yellow-green hintergrund in einer grünen vase .
